At Fury Lacrosse Association, we believe strong teams are built by strong communities. Behind every athlete stepping onto the floor is a network of coaches, managers, parents, volunteers, mentors, and advocates who dedicate countless hours to growing the female game.
As the only all-female lacrosse association in Southern Alberta, we recognize that volunteer recognition is more than a thank you. It is a commitment to culture, leadership, athlete retention, and the long-term sustainability of female lacrosse in Alberta.
Our Awards & Recognition Program celebrates the people who grow the game.
Female athletes thrive in environments where leadership, mentorship, and community are visible and valued. Volunteers are the foundation of minor lacrosse organizations, often working quietly behind the scenes to:
Organize teams and schedules
Mentor young athletes
Support coaching development
Build safe and inclusive environments
Grow opportunities for girls in sport
Recognition helps us:
Strengthen volunteer retention
Celebrate female leadership
Build pride and community culture
Preserve the legacy of female lacrosse in Calgary and Southern Alberta
The Jacquie Raymer Bretzer Volunteer Award recognizes an individual whose commitment, leadership, and service have made a lasting impact on female lacrosse.
This award exists to preserve legacy while acknowledging the invisible work that keeps community sport alive.

This program is about more than awards.
It is about:
Recognizing invisible labour
Preserving community culture
Supporting volunteer sustainability
Creating pathways for future female athletes and leaders
The female game continues to grow because people choose to give their time, leadership, and energy to something bigger than themselves.
At Fury, we believe those contributions deserve to be seen. We encourage all members of the Fury community to participate in the recognition process and help us celebrate the individuals growing female lacrosse across Southern Alberta.
